I had a 69 GTO (beast), had to change sparkplugs at 8000 miles. They told me I was driving it to softly, needed to burn the carbon out.

Ah yes, the days when “blowing it out” (an Italian tuneup) periodically was standard procedure.

A friend of mine bought one with a 4 speed, didn't know how to drive stick. I taught him to drive stick in that car, would never do it again, to scary. The thing had a really stiff clutch ( really stiff), sometimes if you put in neutral it was hard to get back in gear. We got stuck in a traffic jam down town Manhatten, NYC. Couldn't take it out of gear, sat through 6 cycles of the light, by that time my leg was shaking and I was holding it down with both hands. Ahhh the good old days. Fun car, fast.
