Modern cultures are much more sophisticated.
Bandwagon fallacy at work:
"The flaw in this argument is that the popularity of an idea has absolutely no bearing on its validity."

One antidote to the bandwagon fallacy: Keep your thinking cap on while looking for questionable assumptions.
In the matter of change in the climate of the Earth, two dynamics prevail, one involving the natural order of swings in temperature, and another of change in climate from artificial (human-made) means.
Yet, the news media workers attribute unusual weather events to human activity without describing the link between the two. Instead, these workers continually push public discussion of adverse climate conditions to bring about a generalized understanding of such as resulting from human activity. This push fosters the bandwagon fallacy, wherein all sentient beings must accept the view of e*****e w*****r on Earth as arising from harmful human activity.
In addition, these workers invoke Chicken Little going about crying, "The sky is falling." Supposedly, doom lurks near even as we ignore alarms of its approach.
At the same time, a self-answering questions presents itself: How cannot the activity of 8 billion humans on Earth not affect the environment in a negative way and thereby induce a concerning reaction to it?
