I have one and it is fantastic.
I wouldn't get one primarily for photo printing. With only 4 colors of ink I don't believe it would stack up against photo printers with 7-8 colors of ink.
I replaced my epson tank printer when it clogged . I bought the 6020 and use mostly canon luster paper, great pictures. Quite often luster paper 8.5x11 goes on sale BOGO. I print a lot and the unit pays for itself the first couple of months in ink savings. GG

I have both the G6020 and the Pixma Pro 100. I think the G6020 stacks up pretty well against the Pro 100 for printing photos. In fact, any photos that I print that are 8 1/2 X 11 or less are printed on the G6020.
Only uses 4 bottles but prints 6 colors Light cyan and magenta

I've had one for about six months and has worked flawlessly. I can understand the concern over only four ink colors vs. 7-8. I only use it for small prints, never bigger that 8x10, I save all my images as TIFFs and usually about 11x17. For this type of printing I love the machine, When I need to print full size, my 11x17 images, I use a local print shop that advertises high end print services.
for what it is worth, I use the Pixma 8720 and am very pleased with it. It uses 6 inks and prints up to 13x19.
Thanks for all the information on the printers

But the 8720 is not an Eco tank printer. It uses ink cartridges.
