From a YouTuber -

YouTube/Google has been putting more ads into videos with the hope that people will pay $12/month to avoid the ads. The increased Disney+ price is only $10.99, and there is a huge selection. Paying YT $12 will get you a lack of ads and some music. I tried it for free, and it's nice not having ads, but it's not $144/annually nice.

A tip: If you pay for YouTube Premium through Apple, you are paying $3.00 more. Apple gets $3.00 for everything sold through the Apple Store, so Google raises the price of YT Premium to cover that. This YouTuber had been paying that extra charge for a year and a half.

YouTube is increasingly difficult for YouTubers to navigate. It makes arbitrary decisions about what to delete or not monetize, and the person posting can't do much about it. Making money from YT is very complicated.

There is a group in Australia that has 100,000,000 subscribers. They must be making a fortune because they are spending a fortune on their channel. Take a look - "It's Ridiculous." Their title is perfect.

I've noticed that the commercials on YT have increased to the point it may be time to move on. I have been watching YT exclusively because of all the nauseating repeating commercials on regular TV but now it too has lost its appeal.
Maybe I should grab my camera and head down the pike.

Here's a tip. They usually throw in two ads before a video runs. If the second one is going to be long, exit. Then click on the video again, and it will run right away. As long as you watch a couple of seconds of the second ad, you will get credit for watching the whole thing.

If they charged a dollar a month, I might go for it, but $12 is out of line with other subscriptions. I pay $10/month for The Great Courses. I think BBC America is about the same.

Corrections: The channel I mentioned above should be "How Ridiculous," and they have 14 million, not 100 million subscribers.
