We had miniature collie Australian shepherd mix when my son was younger. When my son and his friends were playing in the back yard the dog would circle and try to herd them. Natural instincts.

When I was 6, we had a young English Shepherd mix that went everywhere with me. One day while walking across a field, he ran past me barking and growling. He let out a yelp. when We got home, my mother discovered that there were two fang marks where a small copperhead or rattlesnake had struck him. Fortunately, both fangs had hit a rib and neither had penetrated.
