"Ask Leo" had a good video yesterday about maintaining information about your online accounts. If you can't connect for some reason, you will be able to get back onto your account if you can prove who you are. How do you do that?
Keep a record of all your account information. This includes the password, security questions, userID, and any other relevant details. As your email address and phone numbers change, update them with your account. It won't do any good if your account sends a code to an old phone number. You need an alternate email address for most accounts, so make sure it is current.
Finally, write down all this information somewhere and have it ready for when you're locked out.
I use a program called KeePass, this program allows me to keep all my online accounts in one database that is secured by a very strong password....this way I only need to remember 1 password....I love this program! I keep a backup of the database just in case my computer crashes.

Jerry, I have done this for a very long time.
I have a small notebook with all of my online accounts, with user name and passwords for each.
I keep it up to date with any changes, like new passwords, phone numbers and any other information.

What annoys me with password keepers (I use LastPass) is when a program doesn't follow the rules, so the keeper can't fill in the space. Then I have to look it up.

Same with Firefox.
They save based on a variable name used for the initial login.
If the variable used on the website is changed, it won't match the one saved, and nothing will be populated for that field. One must enter the credentials again for the new variable(s). I've also seen some that will not populate the ID, but once the ID is entered, it will populate the PW field..... Go figure.....

I do let the web browser save log in information for some sites like FB, UHH and such but for any financial type of website...I make sure no info is saved in the browser and I do have to look those up.

I have been a KeePass user for a couple decades. I started at work, as every service needed a different password, and the services changed all the time.

Yeah, browsers are convenient, but they're not necessarily secure. I like LastPass.

I keep my passwords in a face-recognition locked note on my iPhone. I also use Norton’s Password Manager on my computers. They get updated when I have to change a password.

I use Bitwarden. It’s used by a lot of IT departments and automatically synchronizes between my laptop and iPhone, for example. It’s also free.
