Since i got such great help yesterday on my Mac Book question, I thought I would ask the experts another question. I am currently doing a lot of printing on my Pro 10 set up. But I am going through $133.00 boxes of ink cartridges much too fast. I looked on Amazon for alternatives to the Canon inks and all I could find were Dye rather than pigment but for as little as $30 per box. Two questions: what is the down side of the dye ink? And is there a pigment ink replacement at a more reasonable price? Thanks…..Tony
Oh yes, this printer works great and sits idle for months while we move into our winter residence inn Florida so I also want to know if the DYE ink will have any negative impact on the printer itself.
That brings a question to mind.
Are the nozzle designs/operation different for dye/pigment inks?

Give LD Printer Inks a try.
They sell Inks for most all printers.

That model only uses pigment ink, it is not configured for dye ink, just like my Pro-100 is configured for dye ink but not pigment. The other type of cartridges will not even fit in the printer.
Look here, Precision Colors makes refill kits, refillable cartridges instructions on how to refill etc. I use their inks with my Pro-100, much less expensive. For your Pro-10, they do recommend using Canon ink for red because they haven't yet gotten that color down pat.

I have had my Pro 10 for over 6 years. I have been using Precision Colors inks since new with no significant issues.
The printer stands unused for months. I do change all cartridges at the same time even if only one is low. I bought one set of canon ink to get the extra cartridges. I refill them when I remove them and keep them in a zip lock bag.
There was minimal difference in colors thar was easily adjusted for. This was also one of the best buys that I ever made. $379 price got me the printer, a $250 cash rebate and enough photo paper to last 2 lifetimes. Hunt Photo had this great deal.
Another vote for Precision Color Ink.
I ordered a full set of colors for my Pro 10 along with the scale and chip resetter. About the same cost as two sets of Canon Inks but twice the amount of ink. It is a quick process to reset the chip in the OEM cartridge and refill.
Once you have the initial setup you can order larger size refill bottles and save even more.
I have had no issues with the Precision inks.

Look up JTOOLMAN on Utube. He can and will answer your question. He also has a Facebook page. I use Precision Colors ink for my good and cheap Canon printers. Great company and even better products.
