I am a Desert Rat who thrives in temperatures above 80 degrees. These pictures increase my yearning for summer's return.

June is usually our hottest month, called The Pre-summer Season of Drought, with temps in the triple digits. July, August and September are the monsoon season. In normal years intense, localized thunder storms provide 40 to 50 percent of our annual rainfall of just under 12 inches.

As you may be aware Arizona is in the midst of a 20+ year drought which is having a severe impact on our wild life numbers. Lack of rain/snow in the Colorado River watershed is causing historic low water levels in the Colorado River and behind the damns and may soon effect power generation, irrigation and domestic water to Arizona, California and Nevada.
