How so? A few years ago, I submitted a photograph in an international photography contest. I won an award in a subcategory. Nobody ever asked for my photographic gear involved.

With some cameras you just get lucky, with a mirrorless camera you make your luck.

Why should I switch from my Nikon D800/D500 to a Z9?
What will I gain?

If you never considered purchasing a professional flagship body for full retail in the past, why do that now with a Z9? What has changed with your photography that warrants that level of expenditure in changing systems?

It may also be worth you considering what you can lose as well as gain.

If you are a very low light shooter the loss of the AF-Assist Illumination on speedlights could concern you. Speedlight SB910/SB5000 AF Assist range 10m, Z body AF Assist light range 3m.

I have yet to switch to a mirrorless camera. Now I am not the type of person to criticize anyone. Neither am I to spend someone else’s money. When I was at B&H in NYC, I stopped upstairs to pick up a few things. I checked the Nikon counter and played with the Z9. I walked over to the Canon counter and played with amongst others the R3. Both are extremely worthwhile and I would have no problem calling either a workhorse. Even though I have a few film cameras and the 5D, you do gain a great deal more when you go mirrorless. BUT, I am not ready to make a financial plunge just yet. I hope the R3 is worthy of my limited ability. I have only an amateur photographing since High School in 1976. So perhaps in one or two years I will pick up a mirrorless.

Just my two cents worth.

Thaz just the judges prejudices. Its quite unfair. They always award more points to better pictures and they despise Foveons. But then, can you really blame them ?!!?

What a poor reply. The photographer wants to seriously know why you champion your mirrorless. I guess, from your answer, it is an esoteric feeling---only???------------

Try reading more slowly, perhaps out loud, preferably to your cat. He will explain it to you.

Again your jealous simple approach cannot fathom the FoveonX3.. Maybe you should move your crude remarks to the new topic about color. I posted there. I am sure your Bayer sensors in your mirrorless body can be extolled their---Are you Canon, Nikon, or Sony this time? Yes, your self portrait would have been better with a Sigma FoveonX3---any of the progression to the 46megapixel SD1-Merrill, their flagship. But your pallor and whiskers probably cannot be improved,---age, you know?----------------

Rent a Z9 and a Z lens mount that interests you and give it a try.

Mirrorless cameras are a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. Images captured from behind a mirror are cold, heartless and uncaring.

Another self portrait--User ID? If you don't want to participate on this site but merely want to make trouble---why don't you merely go down the street and make trouble in the local bar room, or do you do that already?-----------------
