Epson Media Installer for SC-P700/P900 printers

I purchased an Epson SureColor P700 printer, and it came with SCP700_Combo_NA.exe software which includes the Epson Media Installer. This installer allows you to download the Epson ICC profiles for all the Epson papers that have been created for the SCP700 (the SCP900 works the same way).

My problem was that when I went to use the Media Download function, I would get an error message which told me that I had either a problem with my hookup to the printer/computer OR that I did not have an internet connection. I Checked the USB3 cable connections, and they were good. My internet connections were working…so what’s the problem?

Long story short, later I hooked the printer up to my router as if I was going to use the Wi-Fi app on my phone (which I did not want to use) and Presto, Problem Solved.

I now have two hookups for the printer…SC-P700 and SC-P700 (Network). The network one lists all the Epson ICC profiles made for the P700 and I can add more papers from other venders with this Media Installer by following the instruction from C. Wayne Fox which walks you through the whole process and shows you how to bring in third party papers such as Red River, etc.

At first, I could only find the profiles on SC-P700 (Network) which made sense as that was the way I was able to download them. However, over time the SC-P700 later was populated with them…Weird. I don’t understand why but at least I now have the profiles available on the Printer Screen and in Lightroom/Photoshop.

I also have been able to copy Epson profiles and edit them for 3rd party papers as Wayne Fox showed. This is a great tool!

I hope this is of some help to others.

P.S. I just got a response from Epson USA which is as follows.

If you have to run the media installer in the further please make sure the USB is no longer than 10 ft., no extensions, or USB hubs are being used.

I did change the USB cable to just the one shipped with the printer and it did not help.
