Our one dairy barn is stone foundation that were found on the place.
Well guess I should stay started with stone, finished with cement blocks.

The field stone buildings are very common around here a lot of the stones were gathered from the fields and creeks, but nowadays they are mostly quarried The landscape contractor I used to work for got his from Arkansas @ 4K per ton!!!

Very common sight in most of northern Michigan. Glaciers made lots and lots of rocks and locals put them to good use. The rocks are only veneer.
