Have been patiently waiting for late fall or early winter. Now that the fall migration is mostly over and the local lakes are filling up with Canada Geese, I’ve been waiting for the raptors to appear. Recent sightings have included Bald and Golden Eagles, Rough Legged and Red Tailed Hawks, Ferruginous Hawks, Prairie and American Kestrel Falcons and now finally the Harriers! The majority of the hawks/eagles view their surroundings from some vantage point then swoop down to catch their prey. Most pictures show them stationary. The Harriers, however are always on the move flying closely over the terrain while listening for their prey. They are hard to photograph! Please enjoy!
