I wasn’t hired for it but I recently took photos with the iPhone 14 Pro at a friends wedding reception. Once again. What I refer to as “snapshots”.
The couple were thrilled that someone was there and captured the event (this was an after the wedding event for friends that were not at the wedding) and were very pleased with the photos.
I posted them on UHH a few weeks ago and there appeared to be a lot of positive responses.
But I would not use it for a paid event. Z9 and D850 for that.

I understand and appreciate the critique (s).
Just pointing out that I didn’t really care about the tint and that’s why I didn’t attempt to fix it.

I believe you were pretty clear on that and, of course, you were not obligated to explain yourself.

Would you be hired for pay and use a cell phone?

Oh yes many already are. Some reporters use cell phones. In fact I got paid for taking pictures with cell phones never got paid for taking pictures with the DSLR.

What a prediction by Sony CEO: by 2024 cellphone cameras will be better than DSLR cameras!
Is it scary ?

I don't care what they say about cell phone camera, They can add all the megapixels they want. They will never match what a DSLR with it's lenses can do. I have a Nikon D500 with about 10 Nikkor lenses. I have not seen any Cell phone match what I can do with my equipment. Cell cameras have no fine adjustments for ISO, Aperture, shutter speeds, focusing, Metering ,Depth of feild. Or choice of lens. I shot portraits & Weddings. I have lots of friends in the profession who like me say the same thing. You won't see a pro shoot a wedding with a cell phone. The other thing is When I take photos, I like the hefty and size of my DSLR. Easy to hold and keep steady. And the control and adjustment. Are right in hand. My D500s are built like tanks. Not like a toy, which most Cell phones feel like. And I have a Samsung Galaxy note Ultra that has a top line camera in it. Still feels like a toy. That's my thoughts on this subject.

Ford Focus v. Maserati, to some it's all about the journey more than the destination.
Other people at the destination probably won't care how you got there...

Sounds strange to me. I suppose your cell phone skills are better than your DSLR skills.

That would be a good thing.
Most full body camera users find cell phones awkward and cumbersome,
compared to what they are used to using.

I don't like using the cell phone as cameras. They are damn difficult to use but just happen often enough my job requires the use of it as cameras and thus I got paid for using it.

Yes, I'm more comfortable using my DSLR. Same basic form fit for over 50 years.
But I did fine that holding the cell phone with my left hand behind it works better for me, especially in landscape.
I'm right handed so, index and middle finger on top, third finger at right corner, pinkie on the right and thumb across the bottom. Much easier for me to work the camera controls this way. I shoot mostly landscape orientation.

About a decade ago, as newspapers were imploding due to the rise of Internet news sources, they began laying off all their photographers and giving their reporters iPhones. Reporters were then expected to do MOST of the photography. Better papers retained a pro photographer or two, to cover sports and other difficult-to-cover assignments, but around the release of iPhone 5, smartphones were good enough to make news photos in the hands of reporters.

I find it odd that so many folks bash others' cameras or camera choices. A camera is a choice that, hopefully, is purchased after making lots of comparisons or consulting with others who have done that already. It is bought based on what sorts of images one wants to make.

I don't think the average Jane or Jack will buy a dSLR or MILC to photograph Christmas morning, or their boy's Bar Mitzvah. In the '70s or '80s, that may have been the preferred choice for some, but most folks still want what George Eastman offered with the first Kodak — "You press the button, the smartphone does the rest." They want to come home and find their photos are already downloaded from iCloud to their Macs and iPads.

A friend of mine took me for a flight yesterday. I took some snapshots with my iPhone 14 Pro. On return, I stopped by the beach to snap a sunset.
What I consider Face Book pictures.

A trio of outstanding beauties, especially that spectacular sunset 🟠💜🟠💜🟠

The cell phone are very difficult to steady while shooting or video capture.
I mount mine onto a hand held gimble which really helps to steady it and handle it.
I also mount it (the gimble) on a tripod to video presentations for a local veterans group.
It’s almost a must if you are trying to seriously capture something.
