First, I am not swift when it comes to computers. Some thing went really awry with my machine and my internal drive (SSD/HDD) are empty -- in disk utility it shows they are not mounted. I did a work around and was able to establish MacOS and OS Mac Data on an external HDD. There is a partition on the internal drive that hosts Bootcamp Windows and that works fine. My question is how do I move Mac OS back onto the SSD internal drive. From what I can deduce, all of my photos exist on OS Mac Data on the external drive. I have attached a picture of the What Disk Utility Shows. FYI, I live a quite a distance from an Apple Store and my town is quite small.
First off, are your external drives SSD or HDD?

Apple phone or chat support is very good.
In that case, don't use the Apple File System (APFS) for HDD. This is per Apple Tech Support. Use one of the Mac OS Extended choices. APFS is for SSD drives. I just went through this about a week ago.
Now, getting to and copying the OS to the "home" drive is another issue that Apple support would be best to contact.

Keep your life simple. Just contact Apple support. They will be pleased to assist you to resolve this issue. There is no charge for this service.
Please let us know how this turns out.
I live in Santa Barbara. First I would do as said, call apple support. If you continue to have issues dm me and I’ll give you the name of someone that can help.
That's one thing that's very nice about the Macs.

There's a lot more than that, Jerry.

Well...
I did say "one thing." Yes, there are other things to like, but I'm more comfortable doing things on Windows.

I may just be a simple case of clicking on the Disk02 at the top of disk manager and then see if it lets you mount it (top right) also check system settings, startup disk, and make sure the mounted disk is set there.
