My little brother spent his first few Christmases in the hospital, till they figured he was allergic to the tree (and everything else!). We grew up with a plastic tree. It's probably still in the attic in my parents old house.

They use discarded christmas trees in Louisiana to build up marsh land. Placed in marsh to trap sediment and help stop coastal erosion.
