Sometimes I like an image but don't want to comment on it. A couple of thumbs up would do the job, but they're not showing as an option. Where do I get them?

Hit quote reply. Those options are; show smilies, and show tags near the preview option.
Thanks Bob. Bigmike1, Bobs answer seems to work. Traderjohn - I couldn't access the smilies unless I entered text, sent the message and then edited it. It was a profile thing.
If you use the "Quick Reply" box it does not display Smilies, even if selected in your profile. You have to first post your reply and then go to that reply and click on "Edit". Once it opens for editing you can select Smilies. As I am about to do in this Quick Reply.

Just hit "Reply"... "Quote Reply" copies (quotes) the poster's text, handy when you are replying to a specific post instead of just in general. If the smileys don't show when you hit "Reply", there should be an option to (show smileys).
If only want Smilies, hit Quote Reply, click on Show Smilies, select choice, delete the quoted reply portion, Send. Takes longer to explain then do, it is quick. Or, what rmalarz said. <grin>

I'll take a stab at this. If your using 'quick reply' you don't have the option to insert smileys. Use reply or reply quote.
These, from this forum, seem decent enough- folks will get the idea! I am not a big emoji fan but I am sure there are tons of them online in various typography apps. You can copy and paste one and insert it in your post or another written copy.
