I needed a pocket camera to carry in my purse when I can’t make photos that I can take time to shoot. Earlier this week, I purchased the small Lumix ZS100 for just under $580.
Today I took it to South Beach in Miami for lunch at Gianni, the Versace Mansion, with friends.
I could not spend any time concentrating on making pictures, since there were lots of people around and my companions are not photography savvy; but I did try the camera out and I was not disappointed….here are a few of the images I got. Shot in RAW. Quick edits in LR Mobile.
Looks like you bought a winner, Lynda!

Yup, you used it well for what its best at doing. Mine gets no exercise cuz I rather do other stuff and try to push it where it shouldnt go. But it really is *great* for nearby subjects in pretty good light.

I have a ZS100. Your images show that they produce excellent images. I carry mine with me everywhere I go.

I want to expand on my comment, above. I don’t think of the ZS100 as a point & shoot. The ZS100 gives the user the opportunity to adjust the camera settings to the scene and lighting, and shoot in manual mode if one wants. I have assigned the lens ring to aperture control and the thumb wheel to shutter speed and use it much like a traditional rangefinder camera in that setup. And at 20mp, the camera yields a file that gives the user plenty to work with in post.
