Whether small or large, the flowers of Echinocereus are gorgeous. Selinicereus pteranthus is a bit of a missnoma, as the flowers are bigger than grandiflorus. I have an old beta video of my wife putting a dinner plate in front of the flowers, the petals can be seen clearly passed the edge of the plate.
Echinocereus reichenbachii
Selilicereus pteranthus
Very nice set, do these bloom only once a year?
Bill
Lovely capture!

Hi Bill Brenan, the Echinocereus floer over a period of 2 to three months, The Selinicereus flowers for about a three month period each flower lastin one night. We had 20+ flowers in one night.
More beautiful cacti blooms. The last 2 look similar to a night-blooming variety I have in my garden.
When did you take the photos (DATE) as my cactus is flowering NOW; 9th Nov 2012, in Western Australia. It's interesting to know if it flowers due to seasons. Cheers Andy
Hi Andy, the Selenicereus used to start flowering late November and could go through to late Feb/March. Depends a little on the maturity. Flowers start to open about 7.30pm by 8.30pm fully open.
You're a bit lower so they start later, mine started abou two weeks ago.
Cheers, Andy
