If indeed the B-17 involved in this tragic accident was named "Texas Raiders" please see these images.
These were taken on 11/4/2016 at the New Orleans World War II Air Expo.

Very sad.

Using my NASA editing Style software ., I was able to see detail never shown to the public . As Tragic as this loss of life from this accident is .., I felt compelled to show the same shots posted world wide but in exclusive detail never seen before .,

I said a prayer for all those lost as would hope you do befor downloading these tragic moment of Death shots ..

Extreme detail reveals the cockpit area co-pilots seat with him hanging onto the roof of the plane .., zoom in after downloading .

This was such a soul shattering event for so many. The good memories and fine shots posted by OP are an excellent testament to real talent, patriots and heroes. IMHO I do not think mixing the mid air crash photos and the graphic enlarged photo should be posted in the same thread as a tribute. I guarantee that many people know/knew who that soul was hanging out the window and that image will forever be burned into their minds.

As a paramedic for nearly 4 decades and just retired, I can tell you I have seen this type of event up close and personal. I was the medical section lead for the Alaska Airlines Crash and saw first hand what air crashes look like. Many small aircraft and helo crashes as well in my career.

In these "woke" times, it is not in good taste to even take photos at crash sites and post them. Ask the families of the late Kobe Bryant, and others, who went to court over the photo taking.

I would be hypocritical if I said I hadn't taken photos of some accidents (for internal training purposes) but never would I, or have I posted them publicly, especially in an open forum.

Since this is still an active investigation, it makes me wonder if UHH could be held partially liable for allowing the post? Hmmm.

BTW I support freedom of speech. I am not the morality police.

God rest and keep those poor souls lost.

Jim

These were photos posted publicly not taken by me , only enhanced by me on a tragedy that should never have happened and people want to know why . As a fireman many years ago , I have seen it all and never ever took photos of accident scenes .., nor would I have posted same had I taken them . The sight of the victims & smells are etched in my mind , I can't get rid of them ...

I merely enhanced the already posted photos to show a clarity that 99% have never seen , and meant no disrespect to any victims of this tragedy ..
