Windows 11 was released in Oct 2021. I decided it was time to give it a go; bad decision!

The first problem was the inability to relocate the taskbar. I've always had it on the right side of the screen since I have far more real estate horizontally than vertically.

The next problem was the start menu. It simply wasn't there; huge problem!!

Microsoft going to every program being an 'App' is also questionable as seen when I tried to install the latest version of Affinity Photo. A truly DUMB move on Microsoft's behalf!

After a short day of trying to configure Windows 11 to my liking it was time to roll back Windows 10. It'll be long time before I give Windows 11 another try, if ever.

My only computer (which isn't mine) that can run Windows 11 is the Lenovo P1Gen4 I got last April. I clicked on the update and it do the download and updating for a couple of hours then asked me for a restart. After the restart it said it can't install Windows 11 so I have to use Windows 10 for now. Oh well.

I finally gave in and installed Win 11. Takes some getting used to. Biggest problem was my Laserjet 2015 is no longer supported. No driver. So now I've got a perfectly good boat anchor.

Interesting...
We have a Win 7 desktop and now two (new 4/5 months) win 11 laptops.
I'm adjusting to 11, many new niceties.
Yes, things are in different places, but for the most part, I like 11 over 7.
The only thing that I'm not fond of so far is in 11 Explorer, the same folders are listed in multiple places (lines) on the left, too many.
(The task bar on the bottom is fine for us.)

I updated my 1 year old dell desktop about 10 days ago. I was having problems with Win 10 freezing sometimes when auto-play videos started and would require a sign out/in to get going again. Since installing Win 11 , everything is working fine for me. YMMV. I drug my feet for a long time. Don't notice a lot of differences. Lightroom, Photoshop, Topaz all working fine along with email, browser ect.

There are two ways to fix that. One is to edit the registry, which can be perilous if you are not familiar with that sort of thing.

The easy way to fix it is to download and install Open Shell. The current release is OpenShellSetup_4_4_170

From the first day that my wife put Window ten on her computer she has had nothing but trouble. She is thinking about eleven.
I still have Windows seven and in all the years that we have been together it has not given me any trouble at all. We'll just keep chugging along until something better comes along. The way it looks that won't be for some time soon.
I know Microsoft doesn't support it but there are plenty of third party web sites that do a better job than M/S ever did.

Thanks for the links. I'll take a look but doubt I'll be reinstalling Win 11 again any time soon!

The biggest problem I've had with 11 is the inability to create a new Toolbar. After searching for a while I found a dock I can live with.

Go to HP and try the Universal Print Driver. It worked for me.

Windows 11 was released in Oct 2021. I decided it... (show quote)

In view of the facts that Windows 10 is by far the best, most trouble-free version so far, and Windows 11 apparently offers very little if any improvement, I will not be installing 11 until the support is discontinued for 10.

My laptop came with 11, my wife's had 10.
After a couple of weeks she asked what I thought of 11, any problems?
I told her no problems, it was nice.
She upgraded to 11, with no problems or regrets.

Now 10/11 probably will not run on our 10 year old desktop....
Still 7 there.

Since our desktop is so old, I'll let it be and upgrade when we replace it.
(Did/do that with all my computers...)
