Bearded Dragons are native to Australia and can be found in the wild in most parts of the mainland. Being a cold blooded reptile a warm habitat is essential for their survival and they are more likely to be seen in the warmer arid and semi-arid regions.
Their name is derived from the βbeardβ of spikes under their chin which they puff up if threatened.
Bearded dragons are omnivores feasting on hard-shelled insects and beetles, ants, cockroaches, small lizards and rodents, leaves, flowers and fruit.
Their size ranges between 45-60cm (18 to 22 inches).
This fellow use to be a regular visitor often seen in our back yard.
