Possibly.
I have those critters in the back of my mind every time I stay in a hotel. So far, no problem.
Jerry, There is a documentray called "Rat Film" which is about the economic and social decay of Baltimore and its infestation of rats. My favorite segment of the documentary is the two fellows that 'fish' for rats at night.
They sit on lawn chairs and fish in the areaways between houses. One of them uses a fishing pole baited with turkey and peanut butter and the other wields a baseball bat. The rats take the baited hook and he reels them in and the other fellow bashes them with the ball bat.
The documentary explains the key factors that came together that resulted in the economic and social collapse of the City of Baltimore. I found it to be quite enlightening and it provided me with a better understanding of the factors that affect the lives of those who live there.

Sorry to see Raleigh on the list. Lived here for almost 60 years and seen one rat (in my garbage can)

I saw one rat in 27 years in Central Florida. I guess when the freeze of '85? killed all the orange (citrus) groves in Central Florida, the grove rats had to go somewhere.....
When I rode the NYC subway system daily I saw many rats on the tracks going about their business. I saw them in the morning and when coming home. Nobody felt threatened as long as they didn't come on to the platform. I understand subway rats are deaf and rely on vibrations to warn them of incoming trains.
I don't want to live in a city that even the rats don't want to live in.

The thing that surprises me most is that Memphis is not on the list. A lot of the cities are port cities and rats seem to thrive around ports. Memphis is a major port on the Mississippi River like St. Louis and with warmer weather, since it is a southern city, it just seems like a place rats would be in abundance.
It’s like Texas, we have more horses asses than horses.
