Shutter count for Sony RX10 iv?

I'm thinking of selling my Sony RX10 iv and in order to do that 'properly' I'd like to show a shutter activation count in my ad. on UHH.

I've tried the usual places to upload a recent shot but all say that the Sony image does not provide that info within the EXIF data.

Any suggestions as to how I determine the count? I'm sure it is low but I'd much prefer (as would prospective buyers, I presume) to have an actual number.

It is not part of EXIF info. If you feel it is really important, why not offer a 1 yr. warranty for shutter failure. I have never had a shutter issue with any of my cameras, including 5 Canon DSLR's and the same Sony as you own. In my opinion, it's not very important. I suspect others will strongly disagree.

Good luck on the sale,
Mark

I've never had a shutter issue either in 50 years of owning cameras of one type or another but it seems to be something that people prefer to know about...

I must have been lucky - no camera failures of any kind, just poor photographic decisions by the guy behind the lens!

This camera has an iris shutter (also known as leaf shutter). And I have never seen any Iris shutter type camera ever specify max shutter counts.

An iris shutter operates much like the aperture blades in a lens. And I suspect that this kind of shutter is not as susceptible to wear out as the more complex focal plane shutters found in many DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.

I have Google for iris shutter wearout and haven't found anything useful.

In further searching for leaf shutter max count, I am finding some opinions that max count is similar to what one would find with a focal plane shutter. So this leaves me wondering??? But I also have never seen a figure specified.

And just FYI. The iris/leaf shutter is actually part of the lens assembly. It would not be possible to replace just the shutter assembly on the RX10. The whole lens assembly would have to be replaced.

It's only since the digital age that we can determine how many times the shutter has been activated. Like mileage on a car, it's good to know.

Yes, I'm sure there is a mechanical camera somewhere that kept track of shutter clicks, but I'm referring to standard consumer film cameras.

Try here - https://shuttercount.cam/sony-rx10/

I don't know why some companies make it so difficult to get the shutter count. Imagine buying a car that didn't have an odometer.

If you can’t get a “shutter count,” but haven’t changed the default image count method, you could use that as an estimate. Or come up with a reasonable guess estimate based on your saved photos and keeper estimate. Personally, I would be more interested in physical condition and original purchase date. Beyond that, perhaps a return option of a couple weeks. People get too hung up on shutter count, imho. Bottom line, if the price is right, you’ll get a buyer.

recently, on Seattle Craigslist, there were a couple of Canon mirrorless cameras for sale, one with over 300k and one with over 400k. Both adds said that they worked without any issues. Like other posters, I have never had shutter issues with any of my numerous cameras, film, dslr or mirrorless.

Jerry, I just tried to down load from this site-it was blocked by my computer, as being dangerous.

I decided NOT to attempt to download as it apparently was uploaded yesterday. Also, I found something apparently from Sony that says there is no way to see shutter count of the RX10, which supports a previous poster's comment.

I'll list the camera later today.

I looked at the download site, saw all the advertisements and immediately thought it was malware. I was going to post a warning, but several others beat me to it.

I have a lightbulb that is over ten years old, and it still works. Want to buy it?
