Godex VI-N Round Head Flash for Nikon

Hello. I am looking to acquire a new flash unit and 'discovered' the GODOX products. On Amazon, the 'blurb' states which cameras are compatible and the Z cameras are conspicuous by their absence. Is this a matter of old literature or is there a technical issue where the GODOX flash unit will not work on the Z cameras?
Thank you in advance to those who can answer my query.

To a flash, a Z is just another Nikon.

The buzz is it works fine, just get the Nikon version of the V1, yes that V1-N designation, and do the latest firmware updates.

I shoot Sony now but I have twelve Godox/Flashpoint flashes and remote triggers and they work great for my professional and personal work. . Godox is the largest-selling flash brand in the world now. Flashpoint is just what they are badged by Adorama Camera store, they are the exact same flashes.

I own one V350s, two V1-S, three AD200Pro, two AD300Pro, two AD400Pro, two AD600Pro and three R2 triggers.

Love my V1s, a great flash on-camera or off-camera triggered remotely . Love the built-in led modeling light. I have used the modeling light only as fill for some shots.

Here Brooke H., in the Venetian Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Sony A7RIV, Sony 135mm f1.8 GM lens, ambient indoor light with some fill from the modeling light only of my V1, no flash fired.

Cheers and best to you

Firmware updates are required for some Godox triggers and flashes with the Z cameras.

Stay away from the Godox TT685N. Godox never updated the firmware to work with Z cameras, and bricked the 2 flashes I owned. That left a bad taste in my mouth, so I ended up buying a Nikon flash as a replacement.

I'm confused. How did you brick your flash? The only way I can think of would be to have an error while updating firmware.

I use the TT685N on my Z6ii/Z7ii, both on camera and off with Godox triggers, and have no issue with it.

I sold all of my Nikon flashes because most of my flash use is off camera.

According to the B&H website, the round Godox works with the Z cameras, as long as you purchase the Nikon version. Best of luck.

I wish that were the case, but the Z cameras broke a lot of flash gear (flashes and triggers).

Including Quantum, PocketWizard, Phottix, and Nissin.

They changed something in the interface, and for those third party companies that had to reverse engineer the interfaces, some things have broken.

Including Godox, for which much of their gear requires firmware updates.
