Moving to Elements 11

I have Elements 7 and Elements 9 (each with large photo files). My question is how to keep both files of photos when I upgrade to Elements 11 and I uninstall the Elements 7 & 9 program software?

Do you mean the Organizer?
There should be a way to import that from one version to the next. I don't use the organizer myself, but I wonder if it might be an idea to import the images (thumbnails) first from PSE7 to PSE9, then from PSE9 to PSE11.
'fraid I really am not much help...

Yes, I do meane the 10,000 plus photos I have in each Elements Organizer. I only hope there is a way to import these files into Elements 11 Organizer...I just don't know how to do it. Any suggestions??

Like I said, I don't use the organizer, but Google found this site for me:
http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-elements-11/importing-photos-and-videos-from-a-previous-version/

You might want to keep pen and paper handy to take some notes.
You can play the video as many times as you like of course, but it doesn't appear to be downloadable.

When you upgrade to Elements 11 on the same computer, Elements 11 will convert your catalog from a previous version. It leaves the previous catalog unchanged; it just converts it to its own format as a new catalog. Because each version of Photoshop Elements is independent from each other, you can keep multiple versions running until you are sure you don’t need the previous versions.

Here is some information on catalog conversion.

You can find more detailed information in the Organizer Help and Tutorials file (PDF).

Your physical images stored in Windows files are not touched by Elements. But when I upgraded from 10, to be double safe, I did a Windows file save to a backup drive. Then I did an Elements 10 backup which also saved a copy of the images PLUS the catalog. Then I did the catalog upgrade to 11 and encountered no problems in the conversion.

It does it automatically when you install the program. It will probably only import from PSE9 and not PSE7 so make sure the Organizer in PSE9 is up to date and do a backup of the catalog in PSE9 before you do you PSE11 upgrade.

Perhaps after installing 11 run the origanizer and then delete 7 & 9.

Put the pictures on an external hard drive and then use the external hard drive on the new computer. Use PSE9 Organizer to move the images. Save the catalog and use the PSE9 Organizer catalog on the new computer so you don't have to redo all of the organization you've already done. If you have not done any organizing with PSE9, then just move the pictures to the external hard drive and plug the hard drive into the new computer either before or after you install the new PSE11 on the new computer. Organizer can search for the new images or you can tell PSE11 Organizer where they are and let it build a new catalog.
