Nikon USA fixes the price of USA models both on their website and by Nikon USA authorized dealers. Right now they're selling the D850 for $2495.95, which is $500 off of their usual price.

Not sure what advertisement you were looking at. The add I pulled up for Walmart stated nothing about foreign or gray market model. It did clearly state "Nikon D850 DSLR Camera (Body Only) - Open Box (Certified Refurbished)". Ad appears to be by Walmart but "Sold and shipped by SSE Photo & Video aka Big Easy Cameras llc."

This sounds like a buyer beware situation! I don't trust anything on the internet anymore. I have to feel it, see it, touch it and smell it before I buy. Never been burned by B&H or Samy's Camera.

Yes. This one says import the one I looked at did not state that. Same seller too. Very odd. Hope the OP understands and reads through this thread before he pulls the trigger. I have been buying Nikon cameras since the mid 80's and always buy USA new. I did buy a refurbished D850 through Samy's and it is a USA model and has worked perfectly for 4 years. Had it serviced last year by Nikon authorized service without issue (USA model confirmed) and they were kind enough to replace the shutter at no cost when they were cleaning it as there was some dust and particles they couldn't clean conventionally. Came back better than ever. :)

With the inflation so high your new money is worth less than the old money. I have offer more money for my 33 year old relic than what I paid for it then but I wouldn't want to do that as the new money isn't worth as much as 33 years ago.
