If you’re planning on seeing the Geirangfjord or Naeroyfjord via cruise ship, you’ve got two years left to do it.
Per Gary Bembridge, on the YouTube channel “Tips for Travellers,” he mentioned yesterday in a video that Norway will only allow electric powered cruise ships and ferries into these UNESCO designated world heritage sites starting in 2025. All current cruise ships are diesel powered or natural gas powered, so they will be banned. BTW, there are another 1198 fjords in Norway, so it’s not the end of the world!
Here’s a photo I took with an iPhone 8 in 2018 of the Geirangfjord while cruising the fjords on the Queen Victoria (pictured on the left). These fjords are magical, and should be on everyone’s bucket list. I’ll go back one more time before the ban goes into place.

I lived in Norway for about a year and while I did not see the two fjords you mention, I did see many others, including a hike up to Pulpit Rock. I wholeheartedly second your recommendation.
Lovely. Can see why you want to go back.

Thanks. I woke up one morning on the cruise to this image. The country is amazing.
Excellent shot, Frederick!

A nice picture. When I look at the picture those two cruise ships combined may have about two thousand people. What is there? I'm guessing those affected UNESCO sites will lose a lot of money and those dependent on the tourist income will be in world of hurt. This is one way electricity is produced;
