We were fortunate to find rich color on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Asheville and Black Mountain at altitudes in the range of 2800-3500 feet, whereas color had faded and trees had lost much of their leaves at higher elevations.

I have been along the parkway when I lived in the Piedmont section of South Carolina. It is very beautiful up there.
