When I had my D500, it was virtually impossible to find one. Closest I came was on Amazon. Search on "D500" and it will return similar beginner books, but not a "Dummies" book to be found! It was frustrating, too. I thought I had a good link only to find it was for the D5000! Good luck.

If you can't find it this would be my alternate suggestion.

I highly recommend the book "Mastering the Nikon D500" by Darrell Young. I found it to be an indispensable resource when I purchased my D500. Here's the Amazon link. I encourage you to check it out. It's far better than the "Dummies" books (and you're definitely not a dummy).

That link is for the D5000 book, not the D500.

No offense intended. I will download the manual onto my cellphone. I will go to the manufacturer’s download center and spend a few moments searching and adding the manual to my books in my phone.

You can also go to PhotoBert’s website as well. There you can buy a one page cheat sheet for your specific camera. The best part is that it is laminated you it will last almost forever.

PS: I understand what you are asking for, but I’m not a big fan of the “Dummies” books or for that matter any book like it. I don’t feel inclined to pay for a book if I can get it for free. Thanks your allowing me to give my input.

I never buy those "Dummies" and "Idiots" books. There's something I don't like about the title. : )

I have Thom Hogan's Guide to the Nikon D500. And I have downloaded ALL of the D500 manuals from Nikonusa. There is more than one!

I purchased a number of excellent condition used books for my D3000 and D7000 from Thritbooks.com, Reasonable prices and a large selection by different authors. Mine are by Busch.

I’ll have to disagree. I don’t really look like the “Dummies” books but I think the guides by David Busch, Darrell Young and Thom Hogan are much better at explaining features and exactly how they work and suggesting settings and their reasons for them to be more valuable than the user manual. Free is great, but if you’ve spent $1500 on a camera it seems worth it to spend $30 more to get the most out of it.

I agree. The user manuals are fine as far as they go. The problem is that they only deal with the mechanical aspects of the camera; they intentionally ignore the whys and wherefores. The "Dummies" books have their place and I have, on occasion, used them to good advantage, but I think the other books (Busch et al) are a much better resource.
