I have a SONY RX100 VII (M7).
I am very pleased with it.
But I sometimes wish to takes photos that require a longer
lens than the 200mm on this camera. A 400 zoom would
be better.

Can anyone recommend a compact camera with such a zoom that also has
an electronic viewfinder and a very good Image Quality.

Also, has anyone had experience with the 1.4 or 2.0 tele converter
used on the Sony RX100 M7 with regards to Image Quality?

Many THanks

This is what I have for compact zoom cameras. Be careful of the word "Best." That can also mean "$$$." You'll probably find that "$" is just about as good, especially for limited use.

I recently bought a Lumix DC-ZS80. It takes decent pictures, although I've noticed they can be rather noisy. Nothing Topaz De-Noise can't clean up. I bought it to take into concerts. So far, it's been allowed everywhere; they just admonish "no flash". It has a 24-720mm Leica lens and an electronic viewfinder, although it's so small I find it easier to use the screen on the back.

Here are a couple of pictures I took with it; at a Robert Cray concert, and a Gov't Mule show. Looking forward to using it at Joe Bonamassa in a few weeks.

Those 2 are the ones I would suggest. Also, the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200 zooms out to 360 (35 equiv) and has a 1" sensor. The 2 above are the much smaller 1/2.3" sensors.

If you would consider the larger bridge camera size, more suggestions open up. For 1" sensor models there are the Sony DSC-RX10 IV or the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ1000 II at half the price, or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500 for just a little more. You can compare these here:

There are many bridge cameras with 1/2.3" sensors. I would not consider any without a viewfinder. Just go to:

I agree jlocke photos are mood images... just right for UV glow-inks and a UV viewing light... For the younger UHH people, "blacklight posters emerged as part of the psychedelic fashion scene between 1967 and 1969.[7] The style was popular in advertisements for concerts at venues like the Fillmore and Avalon Ballroom." Beware of women with glow in the UV tattoos!!

Stick with the RX10M7 and crop in PP and then use Topaz Gigapixel.

Then you want the Sony RX10 IV and/or you can use the RX100 VII with Sony Clear Image Zoom but you must be shooting JPEG to get CIZ. Very SIMPLE and nothing else to buy/fool around with.

I have a ZS70, the ZS80 predecessor. Yes, it could user a brighter lens and, for me, is a little soft at the longest zoom. The Sony HX99 has been suggested, a decent choice I’ve heard. Another is the Canon G3x, a 24-600mm equiv with a 1” sensor. The EVF for the Canon is extra, however. LUMIX FS1000 ii and Canon SX70 are also good. But, like the HX99, they are bridge shaped rather than the compact size of the Sony RX100 and LUMIX ZS series cameras.

The Sony HX99 is not "bridge shaped". The size and shape of the HX99 is very similar to the RX100.
