I got on the wait list for an R7 with B&H a couple months ago, just get a monthly update that they still don’t have them, or know when they will. So my wife did some searching online and found a place that said they had one. So I placed my order, and while it took a couple weeks, last weekend, I received my new R7. Fast forward to today, and I get a notification from B&H that new R7 will be here on Thursday. In my excitement, I forgot to cancel with B&H. I may try and talk the wife into keeping it for herself, she can keep her 77D as a backup. RF100-500 coming next, can’t wait to get back to Yellowstone/Tetons.

It doesn't rain, but it pours. From none to one each.

You should enjoy it (them).

I like mine, I am using the 18-150 kit lens, RF 100-400 and all my EF mount lenses with an adapter. (EF 100-400L, EF 70-300L, EF 24-105L, Tamron 150-600 G2 and others, all with 1.4x extenders at times. It plays well with all of them. But I want the RF 100-500L eventually.

Yesterday, I received notice from B&H my R7 would arrive this Thursday. I am so happy that it works so well with different lenses. 📸

Nothing more fun than getting a new camera. We received notice of a new update for our Nikon Z9. Even that excites me. I guess as adults we still enjoy our toys. If you plan on going to Yellowstone, plan on going to the Grand Prismatic Spring. It’s actually more like a lake fed by a hot spring. The walk around the bottom is a photographers dream. Have fun and look down by the boardwalk.

That sounds like a good plan. Two are usually better than one.

The AF speed varies with different lenses and when the extenders are on with little birds in the trees I have to go to center spot AF, so it doesn't hunt. But I use that a lot and focus on the head or eye if close enough 99% of the time anyway.

This will be our 14th trip in 7 years, needless to say it is our happy place.

I realize this is off the subject, but how do you like the 24-105 with the r7?

If you are addressing me (please use "quote reply" so we know for sure) than all I can say is it works well, fast AF, good images but the 24-105L F4 on a crop sensor is not wide enough to "wide" and not long enough to be "long". In good light I would go for the RF-s 18-150, the EF 24-105L F4 would be for dimmer light and I would put up with the lack of "width" and having to get closer on the long end if those were the only two lenses I had with me.

If I was traveling with everything in backpacks or in the car and swapping out lenses as needed on the wide shots I have a 14 mm f/2.8 (manual, but it takes good images) or on the long end the Tamrom 150-600 with adapter because it is a bit faster than either my EF 100-400L with extender and adapter or the RF 100-400 with or without adapter.

However, to take all the lenses with me, I would need to hire a couple of the local HS football players to act as pack mules and pay them in a mix of cash and fast food. Maybe throw in some shots and prints of them and some photo lessons.
