I recieved a check for $50.00 in the mail today. It was drawn by Susana A. Mendoza (comptrolller) on the treasurer of the state of Illinois (exact wording on the check), with no explanation why I received it. How did she know I needed $50.00? How many other folks in this state received the same check? (all of us I'm gonna guess). How does that stimulus ckeck promote economic growth? Where did that $50.00 come from? I would much rather see that same $50.00 go toward fixing a foot or two of the worst roads in this great (broke ass) state of Illinois.

I also received the $50. I have been retired almost 22 years and live comfortably from a pension and social security and even though I had no job to lose I still received C***D relief money.

I live in the southern part of the state which is probably 80 to 90% Republican. I v**ed early and three of the Republican candidates for local office had no Democrat opponent.

Could not have been free. The check was issued by the State of Illinois, a government agency that has no power to issue money. Uncle Sam issues any and all money, Illinois simply returned it to it's rightful owner, the tax-payer!
