The one of the JLG lift truck took me back 40 years or so.
I am deathly afraid of heights (and spiders) and in the 80's I sold electrical controls and one of
my best customers was JLG Industries in Waynesboro, PA. The engineer wanted to show off their
latest lift which used all my motor controls and sensors, so he insisted he had to take me up.
It had a two man cage, but only waist high. He proceeded to lift us up, maybe 50 feet or so, then
extended the arm the whole way out over the narrow side of the lift, and then started jumping
up and down in the cage to show off how my sensors would kick in and prevent the lift from flipping over.
The only problem was, as he was jumping up and down, the cage door flew open (no sensors
on that) right where I was standing. I know I yelled something to the effect of "Put me down NOW!
