Did you ever hear of Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce? It's a type of hot sauce. My son likes it, but he uses only one or two drops. I have to stay out of the kitchen when he's cooking with it or I'll start coughing and choking.

I used to grow them. And then I grew Carolina Reapers after that. They're even hotter. I made my own hot sauces and I had to do it outside because the fumes are lethal.

Can't we all agree that Frank's is all we need?

I really like spicey but some sauces are just plain too hot. It overwhelms the taste of the food. Tobasco's Scorpion is about as hot as I go. It's too hot for most people but I really like it and it does have a flavor.

We grow both ghost peppers and these puppies. Ghosts are hot, the Scorchers were close to deadly hot. I have my wife dry them in one of those drying contraptions, then grind them up in a blender so they look like the hot pepper stuff you put on pizza. Trust me, you can't put them on pizza. I put a few flakes in a large bowl of Chili and it's hot, almost too hot. First time a put just the tip of a spoon in a bowl and I had to toss the whole bowl, and I like hot. I've eaten Ghost peppers on a dare before and it was bad, but nothing like these scorchers. I wouldn't let anyone eat one of these guys, just a sliver is damn near intolerable. I've seen hot pepper eaters on Youtube eat one and they about gagged, and every one of them I saw said it was a mistake.

While I like and use a lot of hot sauce and enjoy spicy foods, I have no need for the "Atomic" style hot sauces using Habenaro or Ghost peppers and the like. I like flavor, not pain and my brand of choice is generally "Texas Pete," lot's of flavor without blowing the top of my head off and sucking the breath out of me or causing permanent damage of some sort. Yeah, I've tried them, but for the life of me I can't figure out how anyone could actually enjoy anything that hot.

Lately my favorite hot sauce is Trader Joe's mildest, just enough heat and good flavor, at least for me.

Probably some pretty mean stuff. Someone I used to work with brought a bottle of the peppers into work to do the see who is the toughest test.

The alkaloids like Capcasin these plants produce are classified by botanists as poisons and are a plant's defense against being eaten. Only one animal is stupid enough to consume them on a regular basis. That being said, I do enjoy a little Jalapeño in my enchiladas.

Eating those peppers is akin to self flagellation - causing yourself extreme pain and discomfort but without the blood.

Recently, I tried Jardine’s Ghost Pepper salsa. Good flavor, was about near my limit hot wise, but able to finish the jar in a few eating sessions. But I exceeded my tolerance trying corn nuts treated with Carolina Reaper. Two corn nuts was all I could handle at one time. According to what I have read, the “Reaper” is listed as the world’s hottest pepper with Scovill (sp?) ratings in the millions. The jalapeño is rated about a lowly 17-22 thousand units.
I have read that there is a claim of a hotter pepper than the Reaper, but at that time the claim had not been verified.

Short “hot sauce “ story. While visiting a friend in Syracuse, NY he took me to a hot sauce store. Located on a display table was a wooden box containing a special edition of Dave’s hot sauce. To buy it, customer was required to sign a disclaimer. Next to the box was a small dip dish of the sauce that a customer could sample. A hothead had thought he could handle anything hot, so he sampled a bit too much. According to the store manager 911 was called.

They look a lot like my Red Scorpion Chile Peppers. All these super hot peppers have a similar look.
My scorpion rates 1.4 to 2 million on the Richter (Scoville) scale. These guys are not really editable SOP (Straight Off the Plant)

Out of curiosity, what do you do with yours. I know a little goes a long, long ways and ours test my limits, and quickly over does it with just a bit too much. We didn't grow the Scorchers this year, my wife says she couldn't find the plants so we went with the Ghost, which are plenty hot and can be eaten by the hotheads.

The Reaper dethroned the Scorpion as world's hottest a few years back. I dry them. The last batch I grew, I smoked them first for around 4 hours and then dried them the rest of the way. They are crazy hot. I'm talking weapons grade heat. I didn't grow any this year; as I have enough powder to last 3 lifetimes
