If I didn't already have an F3HP I'd make an offer. On the flip side, the Nikkor 43-86mm f/3.5 is perhaps the worse lens Nikon has ever made. Sorry.

Amen! Used one of those puppies on a company supplied F2 waaay back in my newspapwer days. Focused as perfectly as you could, any photo enlarged over 5x7 was noticeably soft.

That is exactly what is wrong with the lens. I bought it thinking it had a good working focal range. Couldn't get it to focus at any of them.

There are 3 or 4 versions of that 43-86 and the last one one is no dog. Ken Rockwell explains how to tell them apart. Agreed, the early ones have a bad rep.
If this lens is as new as the F3 HP era then it could be the final version, the good one. It would be the sellers job to figure this out. And if indeed he has the good one he would be wise to explain (and document) that fact.

Given the verrrrrry poor ettiquette that plagues the buy/sell section, if the OPs 43-86 is NOT the good one he would do better to end this thread and start over with a fresh "For Sale" listing WITHOUT the lens that provokes the poor etiqutte.
Even if it *IS* the good one, he will be better off starting a NEW thread minus the pollution that ruins this one.

The 43-86mm f:3.5 was indeed one of Nikon's worst lenses but interestingly, this lens was probably used in more fashion shoots than any other of Nikon's lenses.
Thanks everyone for the help.
Great camera! I still have mine: near mint as I used it in the studio. The lens is not worth that much anyway!
Be well! Ed

You are 200% correct in your evaluation of the 43-86mm lens. It's the only thing I've ever felt guilty about when I sold it.
I don't see the lens in the original posting. Where did that come from?
I was advised that this would sell better without lens. The lens was latest model. It is available. Thanks
