Quite an array of talent! The Canfield fair had a large building devoted to fine art of every kind - it was simply amazing.

Here is a 1940 American Bantam which was on display at the Canfield fair - manufactured in Butler, Pa. where I lived for several years back in the day.

This goes to show how individually creative county fairs can be - definitely NOT "one size fits all"!! Great shots!

Thanks, Sue. I love how they reflect local life.

Tractors, tractors, tractors!! The Canfield fair had hundreds of them on display, from top of the line modern equipment to antique tractors from early in the last century.

Walking through history. And I love to hear them putt putt putt. It's amazing how many still run.

This young man captured everyone's attention. He and his grandparents were leading their steers back from the show ring and were waiting in a people/animal traffic jam. He was definitely "in command" of this huge animal, enjoyed the attention of the crowds, but never lost focus in keeping his animal under control. I loved his sense of humor. It happened so fast I didn't catch a full face of the steer in the baseball cap.

I did a little research - they got 40mpg but only had a top speed of 50mph - also, the body shape influenced the cars used in various cartoons through the years.

The shot of the trotter brought back memories of my aunt and uncle's farm - they boarded racehorses that were used on the county fair circuits and had a regulation half mile track. We used to have family picnics next to it and watch the horses as they trained.
