Sony A7IV upgrade/Gary Friedman

I have been trying to upgrade my Sony A7IV for three days following the guide given on Sony's download web page. No luck and very frustrating. I must have turned on my camera forty times or more trying to get the upgrade to take.

Today I received an email from Gary Friedman about the upgrade, because i have purchased his book on the camera. It did not state anything different about the process, so out of frustration, I sent Gary an email complaining about the situation. He emailed me back and forth several times until we figured out the correct way to do it.

For those of you with an A7IV needing to upgrade from V1.01 to V1.05 and then to V1.10, this will simplify it. Simply take formatted card and connect it to your computer. Erase all of the data on the card. Then download the upgrade file and transfer it to the card. Then the camera will see the file on the card when you insert the card in Slot 1. (After each of the the upgrades, re-format the card to erase the file you have upgraded)

But more importantly, buy the Friedman archives version of instructions no matter what brand of camera you have. He is simply a super guy, and really understands these cameras far better than anyone else I have ever talked to. Seriously, buy his books, as we need this resource to always be by our side!!

I've found his guides to be the best balance of easy to understand language, comprehensive coverage and practical tips on using the camera.

Of course he does. I have a copy and have referred to it many times.
