While trying to remove properties after post processing in Luminar from a photo I continually get an error code with the information "Image Metadata is unrecognized" and properties are not removed...and sure enough, properties are not removed. I tried Chkdisk in Windows, no result...Any suggestions?

Yes sir Bob, when I right click on file details of the selected file and select 'remove properties in Windows 11", select 'create a copy and remove personal properties' I continually get that error message...these were DNG files that were processed in Luminar, not sure if that helps....

If these were saved as jpg files, there are a number of EXIF data removal tools available. https://listoffreeware.com/free-exif-remover-software-windows/

I hope this helps.

Why would you want to "remove properties" (i.e., "remove EXIF data")?

That includes copyright protection features and useful info about how the image was made.

Some programs "save for the web" or "save for the Internet" images strip off EXIF data just to save size. But it's so little that is hardly needed these days. Leaving the data in the image made a difference back in the days of dial up modems... but virtually no difference today.

I never used "save for web" because I always wanted to avoid accidentally removing EXIF data from my images.

Thanks Alan, appreciate the comments and what data I remove are just for posting, I aways keep the originals and data-removed photos are saved in a totally different file... As for copyrights, my photos are for general consumption by anyone. As for authorship, it has been and will always be just a hobby, strictly and totally for my pleasure, I print once in a coon's age, and I just enjoy the process and looking and reading the photos/comments on this site....Cheers
