I am looking to purchase a new camera I have old af nikon lenses to use with this camera. Which do you think I should purchase. The D7000, D600, or the d300s . Does any one think they are coming out with a new Nikon in the next couple of months. thanks for the help Since this mighy be the only digital camera I will buy I want to make the right decision. I don"t mind waiting a couple of months either, to get a good camers.
Can someone also explain a mirroless camera I don't understand how this works and will have changeable lenses on it. Thanks again Kathy

They're always coming out with a new Nikon in a couple of months, so whatever you buy will be "obsolete" in a year. That doesn't mean it won't serve your needs, just that their marketing and product development departments need to justify their continued existence.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, what do you want to do with your new camera? That will help someone on this forum give you a better answer.

If this is going to be your only ever digital camera purchase then my advice would be to wait 6 months and see if the situation with the D600 spots is fixed and then buy that.

From the brief description of your situation, I will recommend the D7000. It should make you happy for many years to come.

Hi I want to use this camera for personal use only but I would like to try to sell some of them if I can. I use to shoot weddings and sports photograpy years ago and I might want to do some of this again.
I also like to feel a good strong camera in my hands and one that will hold up a good long time.

Hi kcj,
Reading this page, I was impressed most with lighthouse's response. I agree the D600 would be a great choice for you because the lenses you have will work well with the full frame sensor. His suggestion to wait 6 or so months is a good one also.
I think you would appreciate the superior viewfinder offered by the full-frame camera, as well as your wide angle lenses giving you "more" wide-angle" than you would have with a crop sensor.
Good luck with your choice, enjoy...

Hi Kcj - here's where you can learn about the "mirrorless" camera system - http://www.sansmirror.com/ - the website, and system simply means "without mirror" - the "mirror" being that which is used in a reflex (SLR or now DSLR) camera. Go to "Articles / System Guides / A Guide to m4/3.

There's lots of good stuff on this site, and the author is a highly respected "pro" in his own right.

Then have some fun on this site - http://www.four-thirds.org/en/special/matching.html - here you can select any micro 4/3 camera and then see what it looks like, from a number of angles, matched with any lens you choose from the list. And there's now a great range of lenses. One thing to note, Panasonic and Olympus micro4/3 lenses will each work with the other's camera - the lens mount in each camera is identical.

Hope this helps with this aspect of your question.

My friend have mirror less camera, although he like it, specially that it is very light compare to SLR . He dislike the fact that there are not accessories on market .

Just one thought about what type of camera not which one in particular. At my local camera shop there are literally hundreds of various vintage full size DSLR cameras being sold on a consignment basis. I have spoken to some of their owners and the general thoughts include one main point. They, along with their lenses are just getting too heavy to lug around all day on a shoot. They are very happy with the smaller scale 4/3 mirrorless set ups.
