I hiked to Mt Peak with Ranger yesterday and got additional photos of the steel lookout tower which is a replica of the wooden one which used to be there years ago.

We have one of those towers at a lake near our place, only it’s just open at the top. I have to chuckle when I remember taking our dog up there and he was definitely all about those steps on his toes! It was funny watching him carefully going up the stairs. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Very nice pics.

Thanks again for looking. I think your dog must be braver than mine! It would indeed be something to see.

If you like views from a wooden lookout tower, there's a good one in NW Illinois on US 20, on a clear day you can see parts of Iowa and Wisconsin.

This part of Illinois is the lower end of the Driftless area, most of which is in Wisconsin and Iowa, a region which was not scraped flat by the last two ice age glacier advances, so it is full of hills. The highest point in Illinois, Charles Mound, is nearby, but it is in the middle of a cornfield and is not particularly scenic.

Thanks for looking and for your comment. That's a bit far to travel simply for a view. Possibly include in a trip to see family in Indiana.
