According to the DxO website, version 6 still cannot handle high-efficiency raw compressed files from the Nikon Z9, for those who were hoping it would.

Say about what specifically? Perhaps I can answer some of your questions.

Still no module to support Nikon 100-400mm or 400mm lenses.

At the moment, I have no specific questions other than is it worth the price. Being a retired octogenarian, I have to justify spending the money.

It is worth the price for me but I can't say whether it would be worth the price to you. I suggest downloading the 30 day free trial and see for yourself. There is no obligation in order to use the trial, which is identical to the full production version.

I have the 100-400m lens that I use on my Z9. In DXO PL5 I find that little adjustment i required for these images, so the fact that it is missing is not big deal IMO.

At DXO website, you can enter your current version and do a side by side comparison with the PL6.

I will be looking for videos from DXO on the new features, probably from Dan Hughes and Photo Joseph. And I will check Robin Whalley's site too to see what he says. Lenscraft.

Paid my upgrade $$ and loaded it up. Thank heaven another parametric editor vendor has started to see the light -- you can create useable retouch tools for parametric editors. The new cloning tool is awesome! I'm off to go pound some more nails into Photoshop's coffin!

The Repair tool also seems to be much improved. It even appears that the choice of the source has improved. I still think that the choice, especially for cloning, is bass ackwards. It seems more normal to select what you want to clone and then specify where to put the clone. With PL, you specify the target location, PL chooses something to copy to the target, then you pick what you intended to be the source. How intuitive is that?

Given that no other parametric editor has that clone tool's capabilities I don't care if it seems intuitive or not.

I use DXO PL5.5 on windows 10. It also works on Macs too. My sense is that some of the tools may work better/easier on the Mac than the win version, like Repair /Clone. Before you spend $$$ download a trial version and see how it works on your hardware.

How is it different from the Capture One clone tool?

Once you've set up the clone source-target relationship apart from tweaking their position the PL6 tool permits you to flip, scale, rotate, etc. the source to the target. The C1 tool permits you to adjust the blending edge to different degrees as needed the PL6 tool enforces a set feather value to the entire blend.

Here's my first experiment: The clone job in C1 is more obvious -- the cloned flower is same size same orientation. I was able to blur it some with the clarity tool. PL6 also contains a blur option in local adjustments and that worked very well.

The new Retouch tool, the replacement for the older Repair tool works identically on both the Windows and Mac platforms. With regard to differences between the Mac and Windows versions of PhotoLab 6, most of them are interface related rather than differences in functionality. In some respects the Windows version is a bit superior, and in other respects the Mac version is superior. Overall, the performance of the latest Windows version has been tweaked and is a bit faster than PL 5, although it may not always be noticeable.
