The purpose of this group is to discuss all matters of photography related travel such as equipment advice, travel tips, recommendations for locations, lodging and guides, experiences, and more.
Your travel photographs are welcomed in this group. However, this is not a travel photo gallery, photo critique or editing forum. There are other forums for that. This group is to inform other members on photography related travel and enhance each other’s’ photographic efforts and enjoyment while traveling.
The rules are simple: Be respectful. Discussions and disagreements are allowed. Disrespectful or untoward comments will be removed. If you create a post, provide meaningful information to the group about your travels and why you recommend the location (or not) or other information about the post. Travel does not have to be to exotic foreign lands. If you find an interesting or unique photo location near you, tell the group about it, why you find it interesting and any suggestions you might make about that location, such as gaining access to the location, suggested times to photograph, equipment used or you wish you had, etc.
A word about comments on safety: you are responsible for ensuring your own safety while traveling. Check with the US Department of State or other legitimate sources of information for up to date information on travel safety. Comments on this forum are opinions only.

HC,
May I make a suggestion; When someone posts travel photos from wherever, is that they name the location where they took the photo, ie... country, city, town or region... It will help some people know where a place is, especially me!!!

I think a travel section is a good idea. Now I will just have to remember to use it!

Just responded to a question in the main section on a question "Guide to a new city" for suggestions on where to find photographic locations.
I posted the following that might be of interest to this new group:
I Simply google two questions:
1. "Best places to photograph in city e.g. Bilboa, Spain". On average I find web pages that locate between 20-50 locations.
2. "Unusual place to photograph in Bilboa, Spain" Brilliant for finding out of the way excellent photographic opportunities.
Then layout the locations you are interested in on Google maps; for example the Guggenhein Museum in Bilboa. Select the little figure on the bottom right of the map (below the +/-) and move this icon to the small blue dots around the red icon that shows the museum's location. In this specific Bilboa location you will find ~ 20 blue circles. Once you have positioned the little figure on any of the blue dots it will convert to a photograph of the location from that specific angle. Never needed a guide or a third party tour since using the Google search ("best and unusual locations") and the google map icon methodologies as stated above. If you have not used "the little figure" methodology, try it out on Google Maps for this specific location in Bilboa. Works a treat anywhere in the world.
I responded with the following
