The Carmagnola Synagogue is one of the few baroque synagogues that still exist in Italy. It, like the others are found in north of Italy, this one in the town of Casale Monferrato in Italy's Piedmont region. That, by the way, is an absolutely wonderful part of Italy to visit. It's famous for wine, truffles and so much more. Its mountain villages, in a word, are fantastic. The Synagogue was built in the late 16th-Century. The door, on a side street, was very subtle and almost unidentifiable in accordance with laws that Jewish worship could not be obvious or heard from the street. It was constructed by laborers and artisans that also worked on the areas churches, which are also often baroque and beautiful.

Nice photos of that beautiful synagogue!! You would never guess that behind those somewhat plain doors is so much beauty and detail.
Thanks for sharing!!

Wow!...'lovemypets' is right...there is an enormous contrast between the quite "discret" street door (which is really fine + elegant) and the inside decorum ...Well shot and exposed pictures of précious and fine art works!
Very nice set and interesting explanation. Would like to see other photos of the area.

Well, we're actually now leaving for another vacation in a different part of Italy, but when I'm back, I will post photos of our trip to Piedmont.
Fantastic set Avi. Thanks for posting!
