Now that a lot of people are going mirrorless I'm still a D850 and D3s shooter. Is there any market for the D3s and I'm going to maybe let 10 or so go of my 20 lens left. Not sure to post here or just see what I can get at my camera store locally. All my stuff is in beautiful shape and low shutter count on my D3s. I have sold 2 cameras and 2 lens here already but now that mirrorless is more popular just checking to see if there is still interest

Don't know about the D3s but the lenses should still have value as they can still be used on rhe Nikon mirrorless cameras.

Check to see who's selling the D3s. KEH? MPB? Adorama? B&H? UsedPhotoPro? eBay? Check SOLD prices on eBay.

KEH is selling a D3s for $750 right now. They probably paid about half that for it as a trade-in.

The internet says a Nikon D3s was a $5200 new. Used, the prices are running $500 to $800. If you can get one for $500, there's no reason to buy one for $800. Low shutter count doesn't mean much for a camera with a shutter rated to 300,000, but with a measly 12MP.

At 45MP, a Nikon D850 is still holding value as a relevant DSLR. How long will that last? Will you wait until it's down in the $500 - $800 range too?

Apparently, yes! Some good selling prices on eBay.

With the money from the D3s, you could get a mirrorless - or a refurbished mirrorless. Nikon is having another mirrorless refurb sale.

The market is fading for DSLRS.
Your lenses, unless the most recent few do not appeal to most Nikon mirrorless users as they will not function as designed, they will just manually focus and that is about it.
Collectors would have interest in original non-ai lenses as they are very well built and beautiful lenses.
The D3s is pretty much dead end for repairs, and again mostly used lenses will all be that is available.
Even inexpensive mirrorless Nikon cameras run circles around the D3s with features, af and speed as well as superior sensor tech.

They all have values. The question is how much value.

The lenses could be used on almost any MILC, although a Canon or Sony user would have less interest in them because Canon DSLR lenses are such a good fit. I have experimented with Nikon lenses on my Pentax tiny sensored “Q”, but for that I prefer an older lens with aperture ring.

One sure way to find out. List them for sale.

I will. And keep holding on to it even longer!

Failure is when you talk yourself out of buying a better camera.

Prices for a used D850 won't drop until Nikon stops making the camera and people stop buying it. They will, and it will. It may take a bit longer than usual for the price/value to drop because the D850 seems to have a cult following. But then again, who knows? I do know that when I wanted to trade a D810 for a D850 last year, I was only offered $400 for it. "We have a back room full of them."

The D850 is both the finest and the final DSLR of the Nikon line. That glut of popularity will acquaint Nikon owners of what Canon 5D-series cameras have experienced for years with the more popular EOS DSLRs: there are way more used copies than interested customers in the discontinued models. Giving up on these cameras before they've exhausted their entire economic value and their functional capabilities is just throwing away your hard-earned money. Alas, something we see evidenced in the for-sale section most every single day.

What constitutes a "cult" following?

I belong to a cult who all drive gasoline powered cars.
