Is there a (free) website where I can ID a leaf?

Google has an ID function that works on many things, albeit not perfectly.

There is an app called PlantNet. Take a shot of flower or a plant and it will tell you what it is.
download the app
SEEK and point camera at the leaf or a picture of it and will identify

Seek is a good one. Very easy to use.
If you have a recent iPhone, take a picture of the plant, then bring it up in the photo viewing app, there should be a 'look up plant' link below the photo. It works for birds, too.

"Picture This" if you're looking for a phone app. Both Android and iPhone, I think?

The one I use is called Leaf Snap. It works pretty well.

I use PlantNet. It will give you a list of possible candidates, with photos so you can refine your decision. It does help to have more than a leaf. There is information in the arrangement of leaves on the stem and the length of the stem. The character of the bark if present is useful. Flowers help. Just a leaf will give you a long list, more information will shorten it.
There is an app called "Picture This" that can id plants after you take a picture of the plant. Sorry: cheap but not free

My "Picture This" still appears to be free by just x-ing out of the pay screens till you get to the picture screen.
