Haven't gotten out much lately but got this tern last week down at Bolsa Chica near Huntington Beach, CA. Not quite sure of the species so would appreciate clarification there from some of you birders. The light was a bit harsh but like the wing position and the sun reflection in the eye and the slight color near the horizon. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Sony A1, 400mm f/2.8, 1/5000, f/4, ISO 6400

Nice shot. E-bird identifies it as a Foster tern.

Well, I always am able to identify the immature ones when I see them pantsing one of the older ones (beautiful shot) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It looks like a Forster's Tern judging by the lack of a black cap on the head.
