I Saw what the Student Loan bail out could cost us this morning.
I had two daughters go to college one on Academic scholarships with her mother and I helping her, The other did it on her own and paid off her Student loans, she finished a Masters in Education, she retired from teaching last year.
My Ex and I helped her when she needed it which was not very often.
Why can't others do like wise? They go to school on borrowed money with out a clue as to how they are going to pay it back.
I wonder how many flunk out, how many actually get a degree and use it.
I'M sorry but this just baffles the hell out of me.

Pipe dreams?

They plan on paying for it with the fantastic paying job they'll get with their degree.
Like a Bachelor of Arts, et al.

I guess they were never taught economics, logic, cause and effect, research and analysys techniques, common sense, and other things in high school.

Everyone knows there's a huge, well-paying job market for majors such as art history, g****r studies, library science, philosophy, and political science.

It's a total shame that the people who did NOT go to college will be the ones paying for those who did. We helped put 2 of our 3 kids through and finally paid off all loans about 10 years ago. Our eldest had started off trying to live off of others once he completed high school and soon learned that he couldn't. He started off as a cook and after about 12 years of hard work became a chef and one of the best here on island.

As I read the article, what I read was how much loan forgiveness there would be, not how much it is going to cost us. I really believe those will be two different figures, the second being a much higher than the first.

I didn't read the articles, I just heard it on the News, if it's any amount it is too much!!I paid my way and didn't get out of debt until just before I retired at 77 yrs old
I never borrowed money without knowing I could pay it back!!

Not just the US has this situation. Seems to be worldwide.
The New Zealand government is owed millions that will never be repaid.
And as Longshadow commented, so many are using it just to get a useless degree like a Bachelor of Arts.
How's that going to help with paying off the extra education? Just to get a couple of initials after their name one day, if they even complete it.
We have members of Parliament (our current Government) who like to put Dr before their name, (one of them has his doctorate in religion!), and he was the Minister of Health when the p******c hit. The Prime Minister moved him on from that portfolio when he was caught breaking his own rules during the Lockdown, that every one else had to abide by or get abused by the media.
Sometimes I think there should be more education in common sense. A degree in that would help employers to select more worthwhile employees and make them better members of society.

I am with you 100% . Our society is going to pot. Since wwll each generation has gotten softer and softer. Lazier and
Lazier. People always got their hand out for something free. Maybe I should write Biden and ask for $5,000 dollars
for the $400 extra I pay for food a month cause by inflation. Come on Joe just print more money.

You can't teach common sense in schools!! It is learned in REAL Life
