I'm not looking for a solution because there is none. I'm just giving another example of how, "They're out to get me."
I printed two twenty-four-page booklets on my Epson ET-2760 yesterday. Later in the day, I wanted to print the covers - PDF file - on card stock. "Printer not connected." Of course, it was connected. After wasting too much time, I tried another printer. Same thing. Then I tried my older HP. No luck - and I mean "luck." When I get something to print, I consider that luck. : )
When I connect and disconnect the printer cable from the computer, it makes that little beep, so there is communication between them. Other devices connected to the computer's USB port work okay. I looked at Device Manager, "This device is working properly."
I cannot print from any program using any of the three computers. Yes, I had turned everything off and on again. Since connecting/disconnecting the cables makes that little beep, I know the cables are okay. Remember, I had printed forty-eight pages just a few hours before.
The Epson ET-2760 has a connection checker, but that stalls after getting to 5%.
As I said, I'm not looking for a solution because there is none. Later, I'll try a laptop and see if that works.
EDIT: I just got a pop-up from Epson. They want to check for updates on my XP-970. It's checking now, so the printer and computer are communicating.

Had the same problem last week with an HP printer. Tried everything. Finally wiped everything about the printer off the computer and redownloaded from the HP site. That worked.

Don’t feel bad, Jerry.
People from my planet have come to realize that all these earthly mechanical or electronic devices conspire against us aliens. After a while, we just get frustrated and travel to another planet and live and work there for a short time.
LOL!!

I continually get "Printer not online" with my HP laptop and yet it still prints....YES, they are out to get us Jerry.
Simple solution! Use a printing service and make better use of that wasted time and money you continually use on unreliable printers and expensive paper!

I've run into this several times myself. Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver software always seems to work for me, too. But it's a real PIA.......................

Call you internet provider. The signal strength strength is probably weak. Seems to be a lot of that going around.
I've had the "printer not connected" from time to time on my Epson WF-2660. I usually just cancel out the print job and start a new one . Works most of the time. Remember, It's a man made item subject to fail.

When I have a Printer problem, I always remind myself that I do have an etch-a-sketch!

No mention of the expensive ink when the cartridges dry out from lack of use.

Most of the aggravating print problems I have are
(1) FIXABLE. have print jobs in the que that just need to be deleted
(2) APPARENTLY NOT FIXABLE. Print heads or cartridges dried up because I rarely use a color printer… at present just staying with B/W laser printer… almost sprung for color laser (not for pictures) but I checked price of supplies
