Beautiful car. It may offend a purist, though.
In 1965, Shelby GT350s were only sold as white, with Guardsman Blue top stripes optional.
It was 1966, when other colors were offered.
Hertz cars, about 1,000, got bronze stripes. Non-Hertz cars got white or blue.

At one time the official color for US cars competing in international SCCA races was white with light blue stripe. UK's were green with gold stripe (I think). Don't know any of the other "allotted" color schemes. This was in the 60's. I don't follow road racing any more.

To Chip94, if you had that Mustang now and it was like new then you probably wouldn't need to deal with this site, rather you would probably own the site!!

Nice shot. My mother had a '65 rag top with a 289.

I had a 64 1/2 convertible, burgundy color, white top, tan interior, 289, 4 speed. What fun! Then I got married. We got a 1969 blue fastback, still 4 speed but no convertible because we had a baby. Then a second baby and suddenly a station wagon. Life changes! And yes, we wish we had that 64 1/2 right now!!!! Even the ‘69.

Thanks bunches! These are my favorite of all time. Not the fastest in their class nor the most slalom worthy. Yet the design of the 65-72(?) were just magnificent. Had an original 65 coupe, 4 speed and then a 64 & 1/2 convertible. The fastbacks took the honors though IMHO - all through the years. Learned 'mechanic-ing' with these cars. Had a '67 convertible that got 'misplaced' to Corpus Christi. Never did find out who took it. Thanks for the re-memories.
