CHG_CANON would you happen to have the link for the latest LR5 updates. I just need to process one shoot with it.

Thanks.

I don't have that software, but I don't understand your problem. If not done yet, point the LR6 software at the LR5 LRCAT file and import all the images into the new LR6 software / catalog. This can be a lengthy process, depending on the computer equipment and the total number of images. Once your LR5 catalog is migrated, you can 'save' the old LR5 LRCAT for any long-term recover ideas, but moving forward, your LR6 software and your LR6 LRCAT is your 'master'.

Is there a lint to the latest LR5? I have lost my edit information so I have to look at catalogs that were created in LR5.7.1

Again, I don't understand the issue. If you have LR6 successfully installed, you only need to import any / all older LRCAT files into the new LR6 catalog. Use the File menu, Import from another catalog and point to the old LRCAT file(s) as the source.

OK. I'm with you. I believe my edits are gone. Thanks.

You're being too vague to understand or add any actionable help. When you say they're gone, what makes you say / think that? When you imported one catalog to the other, what happened?
